What's Available

Benefits Designed Around Your Life

Your employer has partnered with One Mile House to offer a range of voluntary benefits through Colonial Life and other top-rated carriers. Here's what each one means for you.

Life Insurance

Provides a tax-free lump sum to your beneficiaries if you pass away. Helps cover mortgage payments, debts, and everyday living expenses for your family.

A common rule of thumb is 10x your annual salary in coverage.

Short-Term Disability

Replaces a portion of your income if you're unable to work due to illness or injury. Guaranteed issue — no medical exam required.

Most Americans are one paycheck away from financial hardship. Disability coverage is often overlooked but critical.

Critical Illness

Pays a lump-sum cash benefit directly to you upon diagnosis of a covered condition like cancer, heart attack, or stroke — use it however you need.

Use the benefit for medical bills, mortgage payments, or everyday expenses while you recover.

Accident Insurance

Pays cash benefits for covered injuries from accidents — emergency room visits, fractures, dislocations, and more.

Benefits are paid directly to you, not your doctor or hospital.

Vision

Covers routine eye exams, prescription glasses, and contact lenses at a fraction of out-of-pocket costs.

Annual eye exams can detect early signs of diabetes, hypertension, and other conditions.

Individual Dental and Vision

Provides benefits for a range of services from preventive to major at a defined co-insurance percentage.

Preventive care like cleanings and X-rays is typically covered at 100%.

Group Term Life Insurance

A simple, easy-to-administer group life program for accounts with 10–499 employees. No account census required to quote a case.

Group rates are typically lower than individual life insurance policies.

Group Short-Term Disability

A guaranteed issue short-term disability product based on a percentage of your weekly earnings.

Coverage begins after a short elimination period and can last weeks to months.

Common Questions

Employee FAQs

What are voluntary benefits?
Voluntary benefits are optional insurance and financial products offered through your employer. Unlike core benefits (like health insurance), voluntary benefits are typically 100% employee-paid through convenient payroll deduction — often at group rates lower than you'd find on your own.
Do I have to enroll in all the benefits offered?
No. Voluntary benefits are completely optional. You choose only the coverage that makes sense for your situation and budget. A benefits counselor can help you prioritize based on your life stage and financial goals.
When can I enroll?
Most voluntary benefits are available during your employer's annual open enrollment period. You may also be able to enroll or make changes after a qualifying life event — such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, or a change in employment status.
What is a Section 125 / cafeteria plan?
A Section 125 plan (also called a cafeteria plan) allows you to pay for certain benefits with pre-tax dollars, reducing your taxable income. One Mile House offers complimentary Section 125 plan administration through Ameriflex, allowing you to purchase certain Colonial Life products on a pre-tax basis.
How do I file a claim?
Claims are filed directly with the insurance carrier. Your benefits counselor or HR department can provide the carrier's contact information and walk you through the process. One Mile House is also available to assist you.
What if I have questions after open enrollment?
Our team is available year-round. You can reach us by phone at (877) 833-3822 or by email at [email protected]. We're here to help you get the most out of your benefits.
